What happens

Chris Horton, a passenger aboard the cargo ship SS Java Queen sailing from Vancouver to San Francisco, becomes convinced that the man claiming to be Mr. Ashcroft in cabin C is an impostor. When the steward and captain insist otherwise, Chris sends a radio message to police lieutenant John Stoddard, only to find himself locked in his cabin overnight. The Whistler series, a long-running West Coast program, broadcast this episode on August 27, 1950, and the transcript shown here does not name its lead actors. Chris is hurrying to meet the police lieutenant when the transcript ends.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
