What happens
Gerald Hunter, an invalid, is told by his doctor that he is dying, and his wife Lydia reacts coolly. Gerald taunts her about the prospect of becoming a wealthy widow and hints that he expects her to kill him. Lydia listens as Gerald, hinting at suicide, seems to hold a bottle of poison while she waits in the room. The story then turns on Gerald's sharp suspicions about his wife and the bottle in the medicine cabinet.
The Hunter house, a wet spring evening, in the kitchen, study and library.
Characters: Lydia Hunter, Gerald Hunter, Dr. Farmer, Richard, Martha
Listen for: Pay attention to the coffee and the bottle of poison, which pass back and forth between the characters.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
