What happens
Benjamin Reynolds, head of an investment firm, is haunted by the release of Andrew Miller, a man he helped convict ten years earlier with his testimony. Miller has sworn revenge, and Reynolds receives a threatening letter signed by him. His office is poisoned, a shot is fired at him in a nightclub, and strange calls and noises fill his nights. His nerves and health wear thin as the threats mount. The story is part of The Whistler radio series, broadcast in 1946.
San Francisco, in an investment company office and at the Reynolds home, with a nightclub and a mountain road outside the city.
Characters: Benjamin Reynolds, Andrew Miller, Ralph Barton, Sally, Vera, Dr. Cranton
Listen for: The threatening telephone call Reynolds receives and the tense mountain-road scene that follows.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
