What happens

Nola Norton, a newspaper columnist's assistant, is at the center of a story about the death of her employer, Chuck Williams, who fell from his third-floor apartment balcony six months earlier. Nola now writes his column and works with Paul Wallace, Chuck's former partner in a failed play. At a party in the same apartment building, tensions rise over Paul, the column, and the building's old balcony, and Nola's behavior draws the attention of the others present. The Whistler series, first broadcast on April 25, 1954, presents the story in its usual narrated style.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
