What happens

Dr. Neil Latham, an intern at a small inland hospital, learns that Charles Arthur Bennett has been brought in after an automobile accident. Neil holds a bitter grudge against Bennett, who once lied about a night that cost Neil his career and the love of Cynthia Walker. Alone with the drugs needed to treat the patient, Neil weighs his resentment against his duty. The Whistler is a radio mystery series, and this episode aired on April 27, 1952. The story is told in a clipped, narrated style with Whistler's introductions and closing remarks.

A small hospital in an inland town about 100 miles east of Los Angeles, and Los Angeles itself

Characters: Dr. Neil Latham, Charles Arthur Bennett, Cynthia Walker, Pat, Dr. Peters, Dr. Rogers, Dr. Graham, Phil

Listen for: Neil's bitter memories of the night of Charlie's birthday party and the accident, and his struggle in the drug room over what to do

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
