What happens

Vivian Sedgwick, a young woman with resentment toward her stepmother Emily, learns that Emily is expecting a package of sedatives. Vivian, who was planning a trip to Lake Arrowhead, has long felt that Emily has taken everything from her and is determined to keep Dr. Kenneth Thorpe from her. Her rivalry with Emily builds through a tense confrontation, and Vivian begins to form a plan involving the mailed package. The Whistler series, first broadcast October 17, 1948, presents this story as a mystery in which the audience knows the characters' plans from the outset.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
