What happens

Frank Jason returns home to find his wife Cora missing and a suspicious stain on the living room floor. Lieutenant Hall arrives to question him, and his next-door neighbor Doris Martin makes an unsettling claim about the garden. Frank's brother-in-law Harry Adams visits, offering little comfort, while Frank and Doris debate how to deal with the mounting threat that Harry poses. The Whistler series, first broadcast on January 23, 1955, presents this story through its familiar narration. Frank and Doris begin to plan around Harry, and the tension builds as the police lieutenant takes an interest in the case.

A quiet suburban neighborhood in an American city, including Frank and Cora's house and its back garden, a hotel, and a beach cottage.

Characters: Frank Jason, Cora, Lieutenant Hall, Doris Martin, Harry Adams

Listen for: Doris Martin's unsettling plan involving the beach cottage and the lieutenant's questions about Cora's whereabouts.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
