What happens
Frank Jason is anxious when his wife Cora fails to come home and cannot be reached by phone. Lieutenant O'Reilly questions Frank, and a stain under a scatter rug in the living room raises alarm. Frank's neighbor Doris Carl visits, and the two whisper about a secret sum of money and about Cora's brother Harry Evans, who has arrived in town. Frank grows increasingly uneasy as the evening wears on and the police follow every lead.
