Leo, an out-of-work actor from St. Louis, wants Julie to help him win the attention of Gus Hackett, a powerful theatrical agent. Julie's jealous club manager, Pat Hoffman, has threatened to kill any man who bothers her. The Whistler, the Signal Oil radio program, presents the story in 1947, broadcast on March 10 of that year. The transcript ends before the story's outcome is settled.

Listen for: Leo's attempt to win Gus Hackett's help through Julie, and Pat Hoffman's threat against any man who approaches Julie.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
