What happens

Gil Hollister and his wife Vicki plot to kill his stepmother, Belle, for her money, staging accidents that she survives. Belle hires a chauffeur and bodyguard, Foster, whose background she has reason to question. Gil and Vicki consider how Foster might be used in their scheme, and Gil visits the rehabilitation center's superintendent, Mrs. Morgan, to learn more about him. The Whistler, a mystery anthology sponsored by Signal Oil, presents this story with its own distinctive narrator. The transcript covers the first part of the episode only, so the final outcome is not included in this guide. The episode is from the Whistler series, originally broadcast on April 16, 1950.

Listen for: Belle's repeated accidents and the question of whether her survival is luck, and Foster's sudden offer to sell the letter.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
