What happens
Victoria Crane watches anxiously from the porch of her grey house above Twin Pine as searchers drag the lake for a body. The dead woman is Margot Reed, who was staying at the lodge, and Sheriff Tilson has begun asking questions. Victoria learns that Margot had visited Ben Driscoll, the local newspaper editor, and she fears what Margot told him. Victoria's sister Meg is engaged to Ben, and Victoria works to turn suspicion toward him, first by leaking a secret to a San Francisco newspaper and then by pointing the sheriff at Ben's assistant, Eddie Farrell. The story follows her growing schemes as the pressure rises around the village.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
