What happens

A man who calls himself Clifford Graham is questioned by police after a woman named Julie Thompson is found dead in her penthouse at the Chase Weatherly apartment building. The elevator operator Danny and a shopkeeper named Mr. Hotchkiss have both seen a man resembling Graham with the victim, who is known to them as Mr. Stevens. Graham hopes that the police will fail to link him to the apartment, and he sets a plan in motion that involves Danny and Mr. Hotchkiss. The episode is part of The Whistler, a series broadcast on CBS on June 25, 1950, with the program's stories told by an unseen narrator.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
