What happens
Jessica Monroe, editor-publisher of Monroe House, is confronted by Joe Arnold, a former employee who has written a manuscript exposing the disgraces of her family and her own past. Arnold demands money to suppress the work, and when she refuses his terms a struggle breaks out in her office. Her sales manager, Mark Harris, arrives and takes charge of the aftermath, persuading her to go home and keep quiet. The story follows the hushed arrangements that follow and the pressure she feels as Lieutenant Hennigan of homicide begins asking questions about the missing writer. The Whistler's tale is told in the program's usual dramatic style.
New York City, in the offices of Monroe House publishers and at homes and an apartment in the city

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
