What happens

Stash Wilk is on death row, two days from the gas chamber, with $400,000 in cash buried in an oil drum near a highway, and only he knows where it is. His brother John, his lawyer Ben Maddow, and his girlfriend Edie Shelby are all eager to get their hands on the money. Stash agrees to share the location after a doctor offers to revive him from the gas chamber. The Whistler, the program's narrator, introduces the story of a man who died twice. The guide ends before the full outcome.

A state penitentiary death row, a prison execution chamber, and a hotel near a highway in the 1940s.

Characters: Stash Wilk, John Wilk, Ben Maddow, Edie Shelby, Dr. Martin

Listen for: The plan to revive Stash after the gas chamber and the bargain over the buried $400,000.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
