What happens

Eddie Welch, a parking-lot attendant on the roof of Crandall's department store, witnesses a fatal struggle between two men below and jots down the license number of the green convertible that drives away. Instead of reporting it to the police, he uses the information to pursue a scheme of his own against the car's owner, Alton Merrick. The Whistler series, broadcast on January 2, 1949, presents this episode, with Tom Holland, Lorett Philbrandt and William Conrad in the cast, as a mystery in which Eddie's plans quickly grow dangerous.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
