What happens

Arthur Wilson, a middle-aged Medford hardware merchant, is recognized by Jameson, the butler at the home of Mrs. Alice Franklin in Los Angeles, as Jack Foley, a former convict who escaped prison twenty-five years earlier. Jameson threatens to expose Wilson's past unless he pays $20,000 before his daughter Sally's wedding. Wilson struggles to raise the money while worrying about the damage to Sally's future. The Whistler series, first broadcast on October 31, 1948, presents this story.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
