What happens

Elderly farmer John Henderson lies ill in bed on his Midwest farm while his eccentric son Matthew runs the operation. Henderson has recently married Marta, a young woman from the city, and Matthew resents her bitterly. When Henry Jacobs, a former farmhand returning from the war, arrives to help, tensions rise among the household. Matthew, Marta and Henry each watch the others closely as the story builds, and the household's uneasy situation grows more dangerous. The Whistler series aired this episode on CBS on June 12, 1943.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
