What happens
Steve Neal, a traveling artist short of money, stops a masked robber who is threatening Gerald Jamison, a wealthy former silver miner in Silverton. Grateful, Jamison hires Steve to paint portraits at his mansion and offers him room and board. Steve learns that Jamison keeps large sums of cash in his library safe and begins to study the combination. When Jamison's niece Ruth Royce arrives, Steve's attention turns to her, while a threatening phone call from a man named Frankie Dixon complicates his plans. The episode is part of The Whistler series, first broadcast on December 6, 1953.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
