What happens

Don Carlton, a fading romantic film star, sees marriage to rising young actress Dalsy Winslow as a way to revive his career. When a diamond ring disappears at a party at producer Jack Webster's home, Carlton's rival, singer-actor Wally Varden, is found with it in his pocket. Varden insists he is innocent, and Carlton's plans and resentments begin to take shape. The Whistler series is the setting, and this episode first aired on November 15, 1953. The cast's lead actors are not named in the transcript, so they are omitted here.

Hollywood film studio and social circles, including a party at Jack Webster's home, a commissary, and a cliff road used for filming.

Listen for: Pay attention to how Don Carlton's jealousy and ambition shape the events around Wally Varden and the ring.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
