What happens

In this episode of The Whistler, a man named Alfred Treadle, a shoe traveler married to a dull wife named Flora, meets a woman named Cynthia Townsend while on holiday in Torquay, Turkey. Using a false identity as the wealthy rancher Leslie Garthwaite, he spends two stolen weeks with her, financed by money from his wife's savings. Back home, he is trapped between his life with Flora and his longing for Cynthia, and a conversation he overhears pushes him toward a desperate decision. The program was broadcast in 1947 and is presented as part of the series.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
