What happens
Laura Haven, secretary-treasurer of the QB Stationery company, faces dismissal and prosecution after losing $4,000 of company funds in a bad market venture. Her friend Ruth Cranston, married to company partner Lester Cranston, tells her a story about a diamond smuggling operation hidden in shipments of dolls, and asks Laura to fetch an overnight case from the Cranston house. That night, Ruth is found shot at a motel under a false name. The Whistler series, broadcast on May 23, 1954, follows Laura as she finds diamonds inside a doll and must decide what to do with them.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
