What happens
Philip Linden plans a two-week mountain getaway, but his wife Kathy has announced she is leaving him for good. Their argument in the white stucco bungalow turns violent, and Kathy dies. Philip books an express company to ship a trunk to a cabin near Silver Pine, then tries to conceal what he has done. Officer Charlie Cooper, a new friend of the couple, drops by and complicates matters. The Whistler series aired on August 19, 1946, and this episode is part of that run, with the lead cast of Elliot Lewis and Lorraine Tuffel.
A white stucco bungalow on Court Terrace in a hot city on the West Coast, and the local express company office.
Characters: Philip Linden, Kathy, Charlie Cooper, Betty
Listen for: The tense exchanges between Philip and Kathy in the bedroom, and the scene where Charlie arrives while Philip is repacking the trunk.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
