What happens
Enrico, a former tightrope walker, returns to the circus after a decade away and asks manager Morgan for work. He blames the death of his son Tony, a trapeze artist, on the performer Savini and is bent on revenge. Enrico begins coaching a young tightrope artist named Marie Savini, who is preparing a new act for an important show. Her partner Michael and the circus crew grow uneasy about him. The transcript ends before the story is resolved. The Whistler is the series name; the air date is November 27, 1944, and no lead actors are named in the transcript.
A traveling circus in the 1940s, moving between towns, with its big top, performers' tent, and train.
Characters: Enrico, Morgan, Marie Savini, Michael, Tony
Listen for: Enrico's sinister conversations with Morgan and Marie, and the rigging of the tightrope.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
