What happens

Frederick Eklund, a ski instructor, is involved with Barbara Havench, a wealthy woman at a mountain lodge in Clear Valley. A small, shrewd man named Mr. Penny knows about Frederick's past and has been blackmailing Barbara over old letters, sharing the payments with Frederick. When Penny threatens to expose Frederick over a past death and his romance with the singer Susan, tensions rise between the two men. Frederick begins to plan how to deal with Penny, and his reactions to the dangerous situation grow more desperate as the lodge stay continues.

A ski lodge above Clear Valley, its village, and the nearby Buckhorn Cafe and drugstore, in winter.

Listen for: Mr. Penny's blackmail threats and how Frederick responds to them.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
