What happens
Stephen Lacey, a young public defender, celebrates winning a difficult trial against Sean Fenton, but his evening goes badly after an argument with district attorney Frank Kenniston, the uncle of his fiancée Anne. Kenniston has just announced his candidacy for governor and warns Lacey that he intends to reopen the case against Fenton. Later that night Lacey wakes half-dressed with a cut over his eye and no memory of how he got home. Searching for answers, he begins retracing his steps, uneasy about what he might have done. The Whistler series, first aired on March 24, 1948, is presented on the Signal Oil program.
A city in the American West, including a party at Kenniston's home, a bar, an apartment house, and a pool hall.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
