What happens

The Whistler presents Custom-Built Blonde, an episode of the long-running radio mystery series, first aired on July 15, 1946. Jerry Kuhlman and his accomplices Red Stafford and Shorty Burton rob a wealthy blonde woman after leaving a cocktail bar. The robbery goes wrong when the woman pulls a gun, leaving Jerry with the woman's body and the need for a way to explain it. Jerry turns to his wife Madge and to his brother Jim for help. Lieutenant Berg and his men start asking questions about the shootings and Jerry's whereabouts that night.

A city at night and the following day, including a cocktail bar, a suburban house, a repair garage and a police-visited home.

Characters: Jerry Kuhlman, Red Stafford, Shorty Burton, Madge, Jim, Lieutenant Berg, Sergeant Adams, Joe Mendez

Listen for: Jerry's plan to hide the blonde and his brother's alibi, and the questions Lieutenant Berg raises about Red Stafford.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
