What happens
Joe Kennecott, a Baton Rouge Times reporter, is covering a flood at Greendale when he learns that Marilyn, a woman he resents, lives on Williams Avenue in the path of the rising water. As the levee fails, Joe goes to her apartment and an encounter there leads to a violent confrontation in the flooded street. Joe wakes in a hospital room beside a man named Willis, who is recovering from an electric shock and dreaming aloud about a murder. The Whistler is a mystery series, and this episode aired on September 29, 1948. The story is told in the Whistler's narrated style, with the leads Frank Lovejoy and Wilms Herbert.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
