What happens

The Whistler follows the Clayton family after the murder of Jeff Clayton, whose widow Artith is kept locked in her room and pressed by his brother Jim. Jim claims a witness will identify Artith as the girlfriend of Joe Hanson, the man who killed Jeff. Artith slips out to the garage and is locked in her room, and the household turns against her. Lenny Clayton, the youngest brother, has taken a keen interest in her. The story then turns on a man who claims he can identify her, and on what Artith decides to do. The episode is part of the Signal Oil program and was first broadcast on April 29, 1951.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
