What happens

Frank Conway, a powerful racketeer, learns from his wife Gloria's lunch plans and a private investigator's report that she may be meeting another man. Frank confronts his press agent Kirby Morton and then sets out to learn the truth himself. Kirby is a long-time associate who has seen Frank's unusual fear of sharp objects. The Whistler series, first aired June 2, 1947, stars Gerald Moore and Barbara Luddy. The story follows Frank as his suspicion turns into a plan of action, with Judge Faulkner and a hotel suite playing a part in his arrangements.

A luxurious hotel suite in a large city, a French restaurant on 46th Street, and the hotel's corridors and elevators

Characters: Frank Conway, Kirby Morton, Gloria Conway, Joe, Judge Faulkner, Sally, Alan Whitcomb, Roberts

Listen for: Frank's growing suspicion of his wife, Kirby's warnings, and the sharp-object incident that hints at Frank's secret fear

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
