What happens

Carl Halliday, a desperate lumber mill owner, is refused help by the elderly Jace Melton, and a quarrel that night turns into a killing at Melton's house. Carl's partner Max Fennar is with him, and Carl believes the crime can stay hidden. Days later Sheriff Avery questions Carl about the death in Kinsley, and Carl denies being there. Carl's secretary Jenny, who has noticed much, becomes the next person Carl must deal with as the pressure around him grows. The episode is part of the Whistler series, which was sponsored by the Signal Oil program, and it aired on April 8, 1951.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
