What happens
John Granger returns home to find his wife Lillian injured after cutting her wrist, and her housekeeper, Mrs. Albert, is upset. Granger is a junior figure in the firm of his father-in-law, DJ Dawson, and is frustrated by his marriage and his limited share in the business. Lillian's wellbeing and Granger's strained dealings with Dawson and his secretary, Eloise Tracy, are central to the early episode. The Whistler's Strange Story, a matter of patience, was broadcast on September 16, 1951, as part of The Whistler series.
Los Angeles in the early 1950s, including the Dawson firm's offices and the Granger house in the valley.
Characters: John Granger, Lillian Granger, DJ Dawson, Eloise Tracy, Mrs. Albert, Dr. Phillips
Listen for: Granger's conversations with Dawson in the office and his exchanges with Eloise Tracy at the Seneca Hotel.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
