What happens
Tarzan and Jane Porter are shut in a hut during a storm in the African jungle after Professor Porter's party has escaped the cannibals who had captured them. Tarzan takes a metal box from the shelf that holds proof of his identity and shows Jane a folded letter she had written to him. He then gives her a small golden locket and places its chain about her neck. Jane is moved as she recalls the portrait of Lady Alice in the Greystoke gallery, and she begins to wonder about the man beside her.
