What happens
Tarzan, O'Rourke and Kyluk, fleeing the Toriyan guards through the deserted streets of Tor, reach the elephant paddocks, where a half-starved lion attacks Kyluk and Tarzan kills it with his knife. Meanwhile, Atreya awaits word that her hunting lions have killed the intruders, and Wong-Thai secretly takes Jeanette Burton from the Chamber of Serpents to his quarters in the palace. Tarzan's companions plan to free the jewel pit slaves, but Mungo and his guards discover their hiding place in the paddock shed and attack.
