What happens

Anton Tesla, a mentalist, performs with his wife Helena at a nightclub, where their act impresses the club owner Mr. Hughes. After a remark about a gold charm, Helena becomes uneasy, and Tesla warns her to be careful. That night Helena is struck by a car while crossing a rainy street. Lieutenant Clark questions Tesla, who insists he knows what others are thinking and speaks of a damaged fender. Tesla pursues the matter himself, questioning the parking lot attendant Joe and then confronting Hughes, whose conversation with Tesla turns into a violent struggle.

A nightclub and the surrounding streets and parking lot in a city, on a rainy night.

Characters: Anton Tesla, Helena Tesla, Mr. Hughes, Lieutenant Clark, Saunders, Joe

Listen for: Tesla's claims about reading minds, and the detail of the damaged fender.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
