What happens
Charles and Nora's car breaks down on a lonely moor after dark, and they set off on foot to find help. They reach a remote house owned by a reclusive scientist who keeps a strange apparatus and an unusual servant named Jacob. The scientist speaks at length about the nature of black and darkness, and about his belief in apparitions. Charles and Nora accept his hospitality while the storm rages outside, but their host's manner grows increasingly unsettling. The episode is part of the Suspense series, first broadcast on July 1, 1962.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
