What happens

Lee Stanley, an attorney, is summoned to a police station where his secretary, Ruth Dorsey, has been detained after two men were found dead. Earlier that Saturday, Dorsey had been finishing typing for Stanley's client, Tony LaFerro, a small-time thief facing new charges. That night she stayed late at a supermarket to shop, was accidentally locked inside, and found herself in a tense standoff with two armed men who had broken in to rob the store's safe. The series Suspense aired this episode on May 24, 1954, with Agnes Moorehead in the lead role.

Los Angeles area, 1954: a lawyer's office, a police station, and a supermarket after closing time.

Characters: Lee Stanley, Ruth Dorsey, Tony LaFerro, Fred, Captain Hilliard

Listen for: Dorsey's account of being locked inside the supermarket and the tense hiding-and-chase sequence in the dark store.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
