What happens
Cynthia Winship arrives in Paris with her ill mother during the World's Fair and checks into the Hotel Creole. Her mother collapses, and the hotel manager sends Cynthia across the city on an errand for medicine from a doctor. Her carriage ride takes far longer than it should, and when she returns, the hotel insists that she and her mother never registered there. Cynthia finds a young Englishman, Bruce Stanley, who helps her search for answers. The episode is part of the Suspense radio anthology, first broadcast on April 7, 1957, and is based on a story that has circulated in print since 1889.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
