What happens
Paul Gentry, a writer who has been unable to work for over a year, hires Amy as his secretary. Locals believe he killed his wife, Isabelle, who died in the guest cottage by the brook. Amy, who closely resembles Isabelle, begins to recreate her mannerisms, including her favorite perfume and a piano tune Gentry hates. Reporter Al Pender takes an interest in the case and in Amy. Gentry grows unstable as Amy's presence draws him back toward the memory of his late wife. This is the Suspense radio drama Vamp Till Dead, first broadcast on September 29, 1957, starring Vanessa Brown.
A large house and a guest cottage by a brook, in a small town
Characters: Paul Gentry, Amy, Jenny, Al Pender, Isabelle Gentry
Listen for: Amy's deliberate imitation of Isabelle and Gentry's reactions to it
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
