What happens

Henry, a wealthy gentleman, visits a fortune teller who draws the Ace of Spades three times and tells him he will die soon. Convinced the prediction is fate, Henry makes careful arrangements for his own death, including a will, a funeral and a fixed date. He shares his plans with his friend Irene and her companion Joseph, who has his own interest in what happens next. Henry's routines and his attempts to control his fate shape the story as the appointed day approaches. The episode is from the Suspense series, first broadcast on January 17, 1960, and the lead roles are played by Eric Dressler, Claudia Morgan and Mercer McLeod.

A city in the present day, including a fortune teller's parlor, Irene's apartment, a funeral shop and a stairway.

Characters: Henry, Irene, Joseph, Rudy, Miss Chippendale

Listen for: Henry's careful plans for his own death, and what Irene and Joseph are discussing when they are alone.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
