What happens

Suspense presents The Stool Pigeon, first broadcast on September 20, 1955, starring John Dana. On Devil's Island, four prisoners free to roam the island but never leave it, Thibaut, Macquill, Keno and the narrator, meet in Thibaut's hut. After a fellow prisoner, Emile, is captured and dies in solitary, Thibaut proposes a petition and then a plan: seize the governor, Mr. Planche, and force better conditions. The prisoners suspect an informer among them, and tensions grow as the group's plan takes shape. The story unfolds through their arguments and their attempt to act on the scheme.

Devil's Island, a French penal colony in the tropics, hot and oppressive, with its prisoners, guards, and the governor's greenhouse and office.

Characters: Thibaut, Macquill, Keno, Emile, Governor Planche, Louis Dodon, Narrator

Listen for: The prisoners' suspicions about who among them is the informer, and how their plan to seize the governor unfolds in the greenhouse and the governor's office.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
