What happens
Captain Anthony Chumley-Smythe, a retired officer with no work, answers a newspaper notice from a company whose client owns a valuable diamond called the Star of Thessaly. He is hired to persuade the eccentric Greek millionaire Socrates Melas to leave the stone behind, and failing that to travel with him to Paris. On the trip he meets Melas's granddaughter Kula and becomes suspicious of a bull-necked stranger who keeps appearing around him. The episode is part of the Suspense series, first broadcast on November 24, 1957, with Ray Noble in the lead role.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
