What happens
A writer named Amy Sae returns to the village of her childhood to interview an elderly signalman who works at a lonely railway cutting beneath a tunnel. Her childhood fear of the trains lingers as she climbs down to meet him. The signalman seems troubled and reluctant to speak, and he tells her of a figure he has seen standing by the red danger light at the tunnel's mouth. This adaptation of Charles Dickens' story, The Signalman, is presented on the Suspense radio series, first broadcast on November 4, 1956, with Sarah Churchill and Ben Wright in the lead roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
