What happens

A woman walking alone at night accepts a ride from a stranger and is left at a deserted bus shelter to wait for the midnight bus. Inside the dark shelter she meets another waiting traveller, a man who talks at length about facts he has read and about counting things. As his manner grows strange, she grows uneasy and begins to suspect he may be dangerous. Suspense, the CBS radio series, broadcast this play on October 28, 1954, with Joyce McCluskey and Vic Perrin in the leading roles.

Listen for: The slow change in the man's manner as he talks in the dark shelter, and the woman's growing unease

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
