What happens
Margaret Leary, a young girl, hears a woman screaming from beneath a vacant lot on Thanksgiving Day and tries to convince her parents to help dig her out. Her father and mother dismiss her story, and Margaret sets out to rescue the woman with a boy named Dippy Smith. Their search leads them to suspicion of Mr. Kelly, the lot's owner, and then to the Nesbeth household. Suspense presents The Screaming Woman in March 1955, with Sherry Jackson starring as Margaret.
A small town on Thanksgiving Day and the evening that follows, in the Leary family home and a vacant lot where trucks have dumped dirt and junk.
Characters: Margaret Leary, Mama, Dad, Dippy Smith, Mr. Kelly, Mr. Nesbeth, Helen Nesbeth, Larry Hollister
Listen for: The faint screams from under the dumped dirt, and the moment Margaret realizes Mr. Nesbeth's story about Helen does not add up.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
