What happens

Lee Atherton, a public relations man working in a Washington hotel office, watches a young woman, Hillary Sellers, threaten to jump from a fourth-floor ledge while a doctor tries to coax her back. Atherton questions the hotel clerk and then telephones the real Dr. Broome, learning that the man on the ledge was an impostor. Atherton becomes convinced that Hillary is in danger from the man who has taken her, and he sets out to find her before it is too late.

Washington, D.C., at the Wardman hotel on a March day

Characters: Lee Atherton, Hillary Sellers, Dr. Broome, Helen, Kurt Raiden, Lieutenant Rogers

Listen for: The phone call to the real Dr. Broome, which reveals the impostor and gives Atherton the key facts about Hillary's situation.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
