What happens

In 1808 Spain, French captain Jean Dalbray is tried by the Spanish Inquisition for destroying a church during the occupation, with Grand Inquisitor Frapeidro Despier presiding. Dalbray refuses to recant and is condemned, then wakes in a dark dungeon, where he hears the voice of his wife Beatrice. He finds a deep circular pit beside him and a painted figure of Father Time on the ceiling, whose gigantic pendulum begins to swing and descend toward him. Starring Vincent Price, this Suspense episode from 1957 is based on Edgar Allan Poe's story The Pit and the Pendulum, adapted for radio by John Dixon Carr.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
