What happens
Sheila Morrison, an English woman, visits lawyer Mr. Ballou to seek help with a divorce from her American husband, Dr. Paul Morrison. She explains that years earlier, on a crowded train in wartime England, she took a baby named Jamie from a grieving mother who had given him to her, and that her husband believes the child is his. Sheila reveals her fear of Paul's cruelty toward the boy and her growing sense that she must act. The story is presented as part of the Suspense radio series, which first aired on September 2, 1948, starring Madeline Carroll.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
