What happens

In 1924 a stranger named Roger Blattman, speaking to an Englishman named Roger Belman at a Channel watering place, claims to be the man who won the war. The story then turns to 1914, when Commander Bradman of the British destroyer Firedrake receives an odd signal near the Belgian coast. Bradman's officers, including Mr. Treadle and Mr. Gilliam, debate whether the signal is a trap. The Belgian army is struggling, and Bradman must decide how to help. Herbert Marshall stars in this episode of Suspense, a 1958 broadcast based on the short story of the same name.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
