What happens

Mr. Pender, a respectable London commuter, shares a train compartment with a stranger who claims to know a method of committing murder that could never be detected. The stranger, Smith, boasts of a poison that works through a hot bath, and Pender later finds the claim unsettling when a neighbour is found dead in his bath. Pender begins to suspect that the same method is being used around him. The episode is part of the Suspense series, broadcast on CBS, and stars Charles Laughton as Pender.

A night train into London and a quiet suburban neighbourhood in London, England

Characters: Mr. Pender, Smith, Charles, Mrs. Digby, Mr. Skimmings, Buckley

Listen for: Smith's claim on the train that he knows a murder method no one could detect, and Pender's growing suspicion as more people die in their baths

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
