What happens
Scotland Yard investigates the Squire, a thief who has stolen half a million pounds over five years without leaving evidence. Investigators suspect Peter Marriott, a guest at a shooting party where a valuable jewel theft occurred, and assign a detective to watch him. Marriott keeps company with Jenny, a young woman who tells him of a mysterious visitor from his past. As thefts continue and the detective follows Marriott's movements, the police weigh whether Marriott and the Squire are one and the same. Suspense, broadcast on July 26, 1955, starred Ben Wright in this dramatization based on newspaper reports of the case.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
